This 22 week programme delivered two days per week is intended for students who wish to gain an entry level position in a digital role. The course is ideal for anyone who wishes to combine a part-time job with a national recognised qualification. The diploma offers a unique programme providing you with the opportunity to gain or build on previous experience to establish your future career aspirations.

This brand new and exclusive course has been designed in partnership with Accenture and the FRA, in conjunction with leading digital agencies and retailers. The course will equip you with the skills and knowledge to secure employment in the growing digital retail sector. You will have the opportunity to study four key areas of growth within digital fashion retail: technology, trends, mobile and analytics; digital marketing; creative/web design; digital trading.  This will give you the skills to understand your preference to specialise in the work placement and final project.

With the increasing use of digital technology, the retail environment continues to evolve. Changes in consumer behaviour are ongoing and the course will ensure that you are aware of the current technology trends and developments to prepare you to join the digital workforce.

The course combines theoretical learning with practical experience and includes a three week work placement with a high street fashion brand to cement your knowledge and give you an insight into the live challenges currently facing the industry.

Delivered in our brand new Digital Hub the course will ensure that you develop digital skills and expertise to enable you to explore all aspects of digital business functions, understanding the language and environment.

You will learn the principles of retail technology and the importance of data analysis to drive strategy, the role of different marketing channels including website, mobile, social and search engine optimisation. You will develop a solid foundation in I.T and the associated language, alongside practical creative skills such as web design, Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator as well as using Excel to analyse data. Content is integral to any digital marketing strategy and you will be introduced to software and systems used to generate content and then taught how to upload it online. The function of the digital trading analyst is also key in optimising commerce through all channels.

You will be invited to attend a range of masterclasses from some of retails biggest names. Previous speakers have included ASOS; Chloe Miles – Fashion Blogger; Zalando; FRA Alumni Sorcha Kelly, Junior Merchandiser - Accessories at NET-A-PORTER; TK Maxx & New Look. During these sessions held in our state of the art lecture theatre, fashion retail experts advise and inform about a range of subjects affecting the industry with an interactive Q&A session at the end to enable students to have their say.

Your day may include analysing data and planning digital marketing campaigns for real life businesses, dissecting real websites and planning for enhancements, coding and sculpting the user experience for your own website or listening to a masterclass from the digital teams of high street brands you know and love.

This course includes a three week internship at a high street brand aimed at developing on the job skills to enable graduates to go straight into the workplace with unrivalled hands on experience.

The course also includes an industry project which will be set by employers in the fashion retail sector. This project will enable you to work on a real life business problem and present your solution to Senior Business Executives, providing you fantastic experience and the opportunity to gain an understanding of real time challenges currently facing the industry.

  • Ecommerce Assistant
  • CRM Assistant
  • User Experience Assistant
  • Imagery Assistant

Some graduates may also choose to progress on to higher level training or degrees.

Awarding Body: Aim Awards

Age Requirement: 19+

Start date: September 2017

Term dates: TBC

Course duration: 22 weeks, two days per week

Entry Criteria: 1 A-Level or the equivalent grade C or above and 5 GCSE’s grade 4/5-9 including Maths and English or 5 GCSE's A*-C grade including Maths and English, or a BTEC National Diploma or NVQ level 3, or a one year one year foundation diploma in Art and Design plus 5 GCSE’s grade 4/5-9 including Maths and English or 5 GCSE's A*-C grade including Maths and English. Please provide us with a NARIC Statement of Comparability, if you have any non-UK qualifications. We will not be able to process your application without this information.

Applicant Guidance: An interest in digital developments and be able to demonstrate an understanding of and aptitude for digital commerce in the fashion industry.

Fees: If you are 16-18 as of 31st August in the academic year of which your course starts and are a UK resident you will be eligible for full fee remission and do not have to pay any tuition fees. For a full list of course fees please visit our Fees page.
