This brand new intensive L4 Course is aimed at students who want to start or progress a career in fashion retail in the shortest time possible, avoiding the cost of lengthy University courses, to enter job roles at graduate level.
Delivered over five days a week, your study will combine theory and practice, encompassing multiple subjects across a range of fashion retail disciplines. A two week internship with a major fashion brand will provide you with experience of real time challenges facing the industry today and current on the job experience, to secure your future in fashion so you are job ready by September.
You will explore all of the internal and external factors influencing today's fashion retailers and gain an overview of store operations including E-commerce, Retail Analytics, Digital skills, Buying, Merchandising and Visual Merchandising. This course follows the product life cycle from conception through to shop floor and all the different departments that contribute to its success.
You will also work on consumer profiling to identify target markets and develop a strategy in order launch your own small business.

The L4 Intensive Fashion Retail course will cover multiple subjects influencing today’s fashion retail head office including marketing & promotion, consumer profiling, HR, finance, digital presentation, management skills and running a business. You will also look at topics impacting the retail environment such as visual merchandising and customer service giving you all round retail experience to progress multiple career options.
You will be invited to attend a range of masterclasses from some of retails biggest names. Previous speakers have included ASOS; Chloe Miles – Fashion Blogger; Zalando; FRA Alumni Sorcha Kelly, Junior Merchandiser - Accessories at NET-A-PORTER; TK Maxx & New Look. During these sessions held in our state of the art lecture theatre, fashion retail experts advise and inform about a range of subjects affecting the industry with an interactive Q&A session at the end to enable students to have their say.
A standard day on this course could include a trip down Oxford Street to experience cutting edge retail including store tours to introduce and inspire you to a fashion retail environment. During your trip you will explore the competitive mix, store layout & design, promotional activity and consumer profile to collect information for a business project.
This course includes a two week internship at a high street brand aimed at developing on the job skills to enable graduates to go straight into the workplace with unrivalled hands on experience.
Examples of the type of projects you will work on during this course include creating a new range of clothes for Primark, using celebrity endorsement.
This could include evaluating the competitive environment, researching suitable celebrities, consumer profiling for the new range, packaging design and in-store display.
Graduates from this course have a wide range of opportunities within the fashion retail sector including Ecommerce, Marketing, PR, Merchandising, Buying, Allocators, Management Roles and running your own business.

Entry Criteria: 1 A-Level or the equivalent grade C or above and 5 GCSE’s grade 4/5-9 including Maths and English or 5 GCSE's A*-C grade including Maths and English, or a BTEC National Diploma or NVQ level 3, or a one year one year foundation diploma in Art and Design plus 5 GCSE’s grade 4/5-9 including Maths and English or 5 GCSE's A*-C grade including Maths and English. Please provide us with a NARIC Statement of Comparability, if you have any non-UK qualifications. We will not be able to process your application without this information.
In some cases exceptions to these requirements can be made if you can demonstrate relevant workplace or similar experience.
Applicant Guidance: An interest in the world of fashion and retail, knowledge of emerging trends on the high street, problem solving skills, an aptitude and enthusiasm for fashion retail and possess literacy, Maths, ICT and computer Skills
Fees: If you are 19-23 your course fees are £4,220 (TBC). From 1 August 2016 Advanced Learning Loans will be available for anyone aged 19 or over. The first FRA courses to which this applies will be the September enrolment in 2016. More details will be published on our website as they become available.
