20th March 2025

Volunteering at London Fashion Week (LFW) is an exciting way opportunity to step into the fashion industry. Resha Storm Katalia, a Level 3 Fashion Retail student, volunteered with House of iKons and LoveFashion, gaining hands-on experience, making valuable connections and learning how the industry works. Here's a look at her experience:

Day One: Behind the Scenes at the House of iKons

Resha's first day at LFW took her backstage at the House of iKons show at the Leonardo Royal Hotel Tower. The atmosphere was fast-paced and full of energy as she helped greet designers and models, quickly starting to build her professional network. She was joined by many other FRA students, all gaining valuable hands-on experience and making industry connections in the exciting world of fashion.

I spent much of the day steaming clothes, ensuring each piece looked perfect for the runway. Assisting designers, I helped with last minute adjustments and made sure everything was in place. The atmosphere was chaotic but thrilling, with many of the designers showcasing their collections. - Resha, Level 3 Fashion Retail student

Day Two: More Action at House of iKons

On her second day, Resha returned for another busy day. With four shows featuring about ten collections each, there was plenty to do. She helped with quick outfit changes and made sure everything behind the scenes ran smoothly. She also had the chance to see the hair and make-up teams in action.

The appreciation for the fashion and cultural diversity was evident throughout the day. Being part of such a dynamic and inclusive event was both inspiring and rewarding. - Resha, L3 Fashion Retail student

Show Two: Volunteering at LoveFashion

A few days later, Resha volunteered at LoveFashion at Q Shoreditch. This event had a different vibe but was just as exciting. She helped manage attendance lists, managed late arrivals and worked closely with the models to ensure they were comfortable and ready for the show.

Throughout the event, a DJ played, creating an energetic atmosphere that led seamlessly into the afterparty. This was a great opportunity to network with other creatives in the industry, and I met some truly inspiring people. Despite the chaotic and crammed backstage environment, the event was a huge success, and I was proud to be a part of making it all come together! - Resha Storm Katalia
