SHORT COURSE: fashion styling
Designed for aspiring stylists and those wanting to create exceptional imagery for their fashion projects, our short course in Fashion Styling & Creative Direction is the ideal starting point for those wanting a taste of the fashion industry.
You’ll explore the role of a fashion stylist, current trends and how to research and prepare for a shoot. On your last day, you’ll direct your own photoshoot at the tutor’s studio in south London.

Overview
This short course in Fashion Styling & Creative Direction, taught over four days at the Fashion Retail Academy campus, has been created for aspiring stylists and creative directors.
From learning about the role of the stylist, current trends in the fashion industry to learning the difference between commercial and editorial shoots and how to direct a photoshoot, this short course will help you start your journey towards becoming a professional stylist.
You’ll learn how to work to a brief and understand current trends in fashion imagery and how to use them in your work. We’ll also teach you about fashion media, marketing and branding, and give you general industry insights. On your last day, you’ll direct your own photoshoot at a studio in south London (a model, make-up artist and photographer will be provided).
By the end of the course, you’ll have gained an understanding of the role of a stylist, learnt how to creatively research, and directed a photoshoot.
TUTOR
This course is taught by Shannen Samuel, an eco-conscious fashion designer, stylist, business owner and curator. She has founded three collectives and has curated seven exhibits in London, Berlin and New York, as well as assisting the V&A Fashion in Motion shows since 2013.
