Overview
On this practical and creative course, you’ll discover the fashion design creative process. You’ll learn about research and inspiration, and then develop practical techniques including drawing and collage.
You’ll learn about the role of the fashion designer in a commercial setting, and discover how to work to a brief, develop mood boards, understand your customer and the wider retail industry.
We’ll also explore sustainability issues within the industry and look at how to solve these challenges. You’ll develop a new understanding of the fashion industry, how to source fabrics and find inspiration in London.
By the end of the course, you’ll have gained deeper knowledge of the design process and what is involved in creating designs. You could go onto further study or start working on your own creations.
TUTOR
Susana Vazques Liston has 30 years of industry experience, specialising in womenswear design. She has delivered directional and commercially successful ranges for all levels of the market, from designer ready-to-wear to premium high street. She currently works as a freelance consultant and at the Fashion Retail Academy.
