8th November 2024

Meet Isaac, one of our talented alumni who turned his passion into an exciting career. Starting at the Fashion Retail Academy at just 16, Isaac’s journey took him from a fashion-loving student to working at ASOS as a Social Integrated Producer! Here’s how Isaac went from being a Fashion Retail Academy student to an ASOS producer.

Starting His Journey at FRA

Isaac first heard about the Fashion Retail Academy from his best friend, and it felt like the perfect place to explore his interest in fashion. Moving to London from the countryside, he was excited to study somewhere he described as the “coolest place in the world”. Although he was interested in marketing, he wasn’t sure which path was right for him.

Exploring the Level 3 Fashion Retail Diploma

Isaac started at the FRA studying the Level 3 Fashion Retail Diploma, which introduced him to all areas of the industry. From buying and management to social media and visual merchandising, this course helped him see all the career possibilities ahead of him.

Isaac said it was great how the course covered so much, and that he enjoyed seeing his classmates find their own paths; for example, his best friend who studied the same course went on to become a designer. Our Level 3 Fashion Retail Diploma is the perfect course for 16-18-year-olds looking to explore the different functions of a fashion business before specialising further.

Continuing with BA (Hons) Marketing & Communication for Fashion

After Level 3, Isaac chose to stay at the FRA to study an undergraduate degree, BA (Hons) Marketing & Communication for Fashion. He loved the FRA’s 2 days per week model, which let him work part-time at a start-up while studying. This hands-on experience was invaluable, allowing him to apply what he learned directly into the industry.

Isaac recommends working in a small company, as you get to explore different areas of a business, and see how they all work together. He learned to keep an open mind and always look for ways to improve, with the mentality that “no job is too big!”.

It’s a beautiful industry that I could not recommend highly enough! Isaac Perry, FRA Alumni

Building His Career After GRADUATION

Isaac’s career took off after graduating in 2020. He started at a marketing agency, working with well-known brands like Costa and Puma, and later returned to the start-up he interned at as a Creative Content Manager.

He then landed his dream job as a Social Integrated Producer. He now works on ASOS’s social media campaigns, taking projects from concept to completion.
